Planning the future of our city is important. Winnipeg residents think so too – the report from 2018 budget consultations shows that city planning is rated the third highest service priority, behind street maintenance and public transit.

Throughout the review, we want the community to be involved, as everything we hear helps us understand what is important. To help focus discussions, participants in the process will be encouraged to think and talk about five interconnected topic areas: How we Grow; Quality of Life; Civic Engagement and Governance; Health and Safety; and Getting Around in the City.

We are asking Winnipeggers to think about these topics, and tell us what you think we could start doing, stop doing, keep doing, or do differently to make Winnipeg a better place for everyone.

In addition to these topic areas, we are also encouraging you to think about how we relate to the above topic areas. OurWinnipeg was created with environmental, social and economic sustainability in mind, so we are asking you to view your inputs through the interconnected sustainability ‘lenses’ of social equity, environmental sustainability, and economic prosperity.

Each lens is essential to Winnipeg’s long-term well-being, and is intended to affect every aspect of the City’s organizational operations.  These three pillars will continue to be the critical foundation of the review process, and will be integrated into all parts of the updated plan.
